Gangtok, April 26, 2025 – Union Minister of Power, Manohar Lal, chaired a Regional Power Conference with Northeast Energy Ministers and Sikkim Chief Minister P.S. Tamang Golay. The meeting aimed at strengthening the region’s power sector, with a focus on hydropower generation, transmission, and distribution. Key schemes like NERPSIP and RDSS were reviewed to enhance the region’s electricity infrastructure.
The conference also underscored the importance of fast-tracking household electrification under RDSS and discussed the Comprehensive Scheme for Strengthening Transmission & Distribution in Sikkim. Minister Lal reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing electricity to every home in the Northeast, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for the region’s energy growth.
