
Visakhapatnam, April 26, 2025 – Andhra University (AU), celebrating its 99th year, has now entered its centenary year. Established on April 26, 1926, in Vijayawada and moved to Visakhapatnam in 1930, AU was supported by local leaders and zamindars. Notable figures such as Sir Cattamanchi Ramalinga Reddy and Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan served as vice-chancellors, while Sir C.V. Raman and Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya were part of the faculty.
AU has produced distinguished alumni, including former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and ex-Speaker G.M.C. Balayogi. The university has been a pioneer in fields like Marine Engineering and Nuclear Physics and now spans 425 acres, housing over 200 buildings, 58 departments, 16 research centers, and 305 affiliated colleges, solidifying its reputation for academic excellence.
