
New Delhi, April 25, 2025 – Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries & Steel, Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma, highlighted the steel sector’s crucial role in India’s growth, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. Speaking at a national conference, Varma outlined the goal of achieving 500 million tonnes (MT) in steel production by 2047 and boosting steel exports to 25 MT, positioning India as a global leader in the sector.
Varma called for collaboration among industry stakeholders to achieve these targets, emphasizing that the steel sector is essential for economic growth, job creation, and infrastructure development. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the industry’s growth and contributing to India’s long-term economic goals.
