Hyderabad, April 25, 2025 – Director Karthik Subbaraj has sparked controversy by claiming that the concept of Game Changer, starring Ram Charan and directed by Shankar, was originally his. During promotions for his film Retro, Subbaraj alleged that Shankar changed the entire story and screenplay, criticizing the final outcome of the project.
Despite high expectations and a massive budget of over ₹300 crore under Dil Raju’s banner, Game Changer underperformed at the box office, earning only ₹180 crore globally. Subbaraj also commented on the film’s failure, stating that it’s difficult to determine why certain films fail to connect with audiences.
