Chittoor Revenue Officials Under Scrutiny for Neglect, Corruption Allegations

Chittoor, April 21, 2025: Revenue officials in Chittoor district are facing criticism for their failure to address public concerns, with over 30,000 land-related petitions filed last year, the highest in the state. Allegations of corruption, including bribe demands from officials, have left many residents frustrated, with issues remaining unresolved for years, especially affecting farmers and women.

The situation intensified with the arrest of SM Hussain, an in-charge Tehsildar, in a corruption case. Hussain, previously a camp clerk for district collectors, was involved in a bribery case related to a farmer’s settlement record. His role in the district’s Revenue Services Association and as Chairman of the AP JAC has highlighted concerns about systemic corruption and a lack of accountability within the department.
