Visakhapatnam, April 19, 2025 — A no-confidence motion against GVMC Mayor Golagani Hari Venkata Kumari was successfully passed by the alliance parties during a special council meeting at the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation office. The YSRCP boycotted the session, and CPI and CPM corporators were also absent. Celebrations followed the result, with alliance leaders lighting fireworks and dancing near the GVMC headquarters.
The motion saw support from 74 members, including ex-officio participants, under the supervision of the District Collector and in-charge Commissioner. Security was tight, with restricted entry and mobile phones placed on flight mode during the session. Of the total 98 corporators, one seat is vacant, while the alliance, consisting of TDP, Jana Sena, and BJP members, had the strength to secure the motion.
