
Nagaon, Assam, April 19, 2025 — A mild earthquake of magnitude 2.9 struck Assam’s Nagaon district in the early hours of Saturday, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The tremor was recorded at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers, which often makes the shaking more noticeable despite the lower magnitude.
There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties from the quake. However, residents in parts of Nagaon and nearby areas reported feeling light tremors. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, and experts have advised the public to remain calm and follow safety protocols in case of aftershocks.
