Mumbai: The financial capital faced severe weather conditions over the past two days, with heavy rain lashing the city on Wednesday, continuing until yesterday morning before pausing after a few hours. However, Mumbai woke up to a cloudy sky after experiencing showers last night. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has extended its orange alert for heavy rainfall in Mumbai for today as well. Residents can expect a day filled with significant downpours.
The IMD has issued a red alert for Nashik and an orange alert for Palghar, Pune, Nandurbar, and Dhule. A yellow alert has been issued for almost every other city in Maharashtra for today.

The weather forecast for the next few days in Mumbai indicates that the city will continue to experience rainy conditions. Starting from 27th September, the temperatures are expected to range between 23 degrees Celsius and 31 degrees Celsius, with a generally cloudy sky accompanied by moderate rain. This pattern will persist on 28th and 29th September, with the temperatures slightly rising to 24 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively. The rain, although moderate, is expected to continue, making it a wet end to the month.
Moving into the final days of September and the beginning of October, lighter rain is predicted on 30th September, while 1st and 2nd October will likely bring heavier showers. With temperatures hovering around 26 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius, residents should prepare for more rainfall as the city enters the first few days of October.
Disruptions persisted on Thursday as well after heavy rainfall battered the city, leading to waterlogged streets, traffic snarl. The local train network, often referred to as Mumbai’s lifeline, slowed down for a while but continued to run as per normal.
On Wednesday, the Western Express Highway, along with other major routes, witnessed massive traffic jams as water filled the roads, making travel difficult. The continuous downpour, which began early in the day, led to the city’s weather authorities issuing a ‘Red Alert’ for Mumbai, warning of more intense rain in the hours ahead.
