Pune: A 16-year-old girl from a city-based college in Pune has accused four men of raping her on multiple occasions between April and September. Out of the four accused, two aged between 20 and 22 were arrested while two minors were detained.
According to DCP Zone 2, Smarthna Patil, the victim met all four suspects separately on social media platforms. “They allegedly had sexual relations with the girl at different places,” said Patil.
The incident came to light during a session on sexual offences against children. A fellow student noticed the victim seemed distressed and, after gaining her trust, revealed the abuse to the counsellors.
“Investigation revealed that the minor had met four suspects, who are not known to each other, on social media platforms and was allegedly raped on separate occasions,” said the police officer.
The police have booked the accused on charges of rape, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act. “Some videos were also made of the girl, so we’ve added sections related to the IT Act,” said Patil.
“We have registered a case against four suspects – among whom two are minor – and further investigation is ongoing,” she added.
In relative news from Gujarat’s Dahod, a six-year-old girl was murderedwithin the premises of her Primary School. The accused, 55-year-old Govind Natt, the school principal, has been arrested in connection with the case. According to Times Now, the Class 1 student was murdered after she resisted Natt’s attempts to assault her sexually.
Superintendent Of Police, Dahod, Rajdeepsinh Jhala said that the girl’s mother had dropped her off at the principal’s car early in the morning, believing she would be safe under his care. However, the principal allegedly attempted to rape the girl, and as she resisted, the principal killed her and dumbed her body in the school compound.
