New Delhi, April 11, 2025 — The Election Commission of India (ECI) has dismissed concerns raised by US politician Tulsi Gabbard over EVM tampering, stating that Indian EVMs are standalone and not connected to the internet, making remote manipulation technically impossible. The machines follow strict testing protocols and are protected through multiple layers of security.
ECI officials highlighted that India’s election process is globally respected for transparency, with every phase—right from EVM setup to vote counting—done under the watch of party representatives. Gabbard’s remarks, they said, do not apply to India’s unique EVM system, which is resilient and secure against digital threats.
