San Bruno, April 11, 2025 — WhatsApp has rolled out updates to enhance chats and group features. Users can now see how many members are online in a group (without revealing names) and customize notifications with a “Notify for” setting. The Events feature, previously limited to groups, is now available in personal chats, allowing users to schedule, pin, and track events.
In calls, iOS users can pinch-to-zoom during video calls and add people mid-call from chat threads. WhatsApp has also improved call quality and added a document scanner for iPhones. Additionally, users can now set WhatsApp as the default app for messaging and calling.
