Gandhinagar, April 9, 2025: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has raised the annual development grant for MLAs from ₹1.5 crore to ₹2.5 crore, providing an additional ₹1 crore to support constituency-level development. The move is intended to boost infrastructure and welfare projects at the local level, giving legislators more financial scope to address pressing community needs.
Of the increased grant, ₹50 lakh per MLA has been specifically allocated for water conservation efforts under the “Catch the Rain – Sujalam Sufalam Jal Abhiyan 2.0” campaign. This initiative supports activities such as desilting, pond deepening, and installing rainwater harvesting systems, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s national push for sustainable water management and conservation.
