New Delhi, April 8, 2025 – An MoU has been signed between NITRA, Ghaziabad, and NBRI, Lucknow, to jointly conduct a genome study on Milkweed. The aim is to explore Milkweed’s potential in sustainable textile production, fostering eco-friendly fabric development. This collaboration highlights the growing intersection of science and innovation in enhancing India’s textile industry.
The partnership aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, focusing on optimizing Milkweed’s fiber for commercial use. This initiative is expected to create new income opportunities for farmers and strengthen India’s commitment to sustainability and self-reliance in the textile sector.
