900 Car Engines Stolen from Kia’s Penukonda Plant; Police Launch Probe

Sri Sathya Sai District, April 8, 2025 – A significant theft has been reported at Kia Motors’ Penukonda facility, where nearly 900 car engines have mysteriously gone missing. The incident came to light after Kia filed a formal police complaint on March 19, following an initial request to conduct an investigation without an FIR, which the police declined. Once the complaint was lodged, authorities began a formal probe.

A special police team was formed to investigate the case, focusing on whether the engines were stolen in transit from Tamil Nadu or after arrival at the factory. As the inquiry nears completion, officials are expected to release further details in a press briefing soon.
