Washington, D.C., March 24, 2025 – The East Turkistan Government-in-Exile (ETGE) has condemned the recent Türkiye-China security pact, calling it a “historic betrayal.” The ETGE argues that the agreement, made during a meeting in Ankara on March 20, 2025, under the pretext of “counterterrorism” and “security,” is a strategic move to suppress the East Turkistani people’s fight for independence.
Salih Hudayar, the ETGE’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Security, criticized Türkiye for abandoning its Turkic-Islamic values and supporting China’s efforts to control East Turkistani communities. He stated that the partnership strengthens China’s global repression campaign, marking a departure from Türkiye’s past support for East Turkistan’s autonomy.
