New Delhi, February 27, 2025 – BJP MLA Neelam Pahalwan has proposed renaming Najafgarh to Nahargarh, claiming its original name was altered during the Mughal era. She cited historical references to Raja Nahar Singh’s role in the 1857 revolt, stating that locals have long demanded this change. Pahalwan urged the Delhi Assembly to support the renaming effort.
The BJP’s push for renaming places in Delhi is gaining traction, with Mustafabad MLA Mohan Singh Bisht also proposing a name change for his constituency. This comes after BJP’s victory in the February 5 elections, where it won 48 out of 70 seats, ending AAP’s decade-long rule. The eighth Delhi Assembly session is currently in progress.
