Bapatla, February 26, 2025—Bapatla police arrested a cybercrime gang that exploited the ‘Janani Arogya Yojana’ scheme, defrauding victims across 16 districts and stealing ₹42.61 lakh. The three accused—Achari Ranjith Singh, Venkata Narayana, and Jatin—posed as government officials, using WhatsApp calls and fake messages to trick pregnant women and new mothers into sharing bank details.
Operating from Delhi, they used stolen money to buy expensive cigarettes via Blinkit and resell them. Investigations revealed their involvement in a ₹4 crore COVID-19 relief scam and online fraud selling high-end phones. They face 94 cybercrime cases across six states.
