Tirupati, February 26, 2025—The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has sought the custody of Apurva Chawda (A5) in the ghee adulteration case linked to Tirumala Srivari Laddu prasadam. Chawda, a chemical engineering graduate, reportedly admitted to mixing chemicals in the supplied ghee. SIT is investigating the source, quantity, and other individuals involved, prompting a petition in the Tirupati Second Additional Munsif Court for further questioning.
SIT has also requested the custody of Vipin Jain (A3) for interrogation. Meanwhile, bail petitions filed by Bhole Baba Organic Dairy directors Vipin Jain (A3) and Pomil Jain (A4) were withdrawn as the custody petition remains pending. Judge Koteshwar Rao dismissed their bail plea, and the court postponed hearings on Chawda’s bail and SIT’s custody request to February 27.
