Nagarkurnool, February 25, 2025: Rescue operations for the eight workers trapped in the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel have entered the fourth day. The Telangana government has engaged experts from the Geological Survey of India, the National Geographical Research Institute, and an Australian L&T team. Despite the efforts of NDRF, Army, and other agencies, thick muck, iron rods, and debris continue to obstruct access. District Collector B. Santhosh stated that dewatering is in progress, but the last 40-50 meters remain inaccessible.
With 584 personnel involved, multiple inspections have been conducted, using gas cutters to clear debris. Officials warn that survival chances are slim, and the rescue could take several more days. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy will visit the site, while Telangana Minister Jupally Krishna Rao acknowledged the extreme challenges posed by the debris.
