His nomination was proposed by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and seconded by Cabinet Minister Ravindra Indraj. The election was conducted through a voice vote, reflecting the ruling party’s confidence in his leadership.

    Vijender Gupta, representing the Rohini constituency, has had an active political career, including serving as the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly. Known for his assertive stance, he was frequently marshaled out of the House during his tenure.
