Amaravati, February 24, 2025: The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), led by Jagan Mohan Reddy, staged a walkout from the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, protesting the denial of Opposition status. YSRCP leaders argued that despite being the second-largest party by vote share, they were unfairly denied the official Opposition recognition. They accused the ruling coalition of suppressing their voice in the legislature.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan criticized YSRCP’s stance, stating that Opposition status is determined by the number of seats won, not by demand. He reminded that Jana Sena, which secured more seats, rightfully holds the position of the second-largest party in the Assembly. Kalyan also condemned YSRCP’s disruption of the Governor’s address, urging them to respect legislative proceedings and act with dignity.
