Dharmendra Pradhan Dismisses Stalin’s Hindi Imposition Concerns as ‘Imaginary’

New Delhi, February 21, 2025: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan refuted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s concerns about the imposition of Hindi under the National Education Policy (NEP). In response to Stalin’s letter to PM Modi, Pradhan assured that the NEP does not enforce any language and upholds linguistic diversity, calling the fears “imaginary concerns.” He emphasized that Tamil would continue as a primary medium of instruction, with the policy allowing flexibility in language choices.

CM Stalin had urged PM Modi to safeguard Tamil Nadu’s linguistic rights, asserting that any attempt to impose Hindi would be strongly opposed. Pradhan reiterated that the NEP promotes multilingual education while respecting regional languages. He called for avoiding misinterpretations and stressed that the policy aims to foster inclusivity rather than division.
