    Rekha Gupta Takes Oath as Delhi’s 4th Woman CM in Grand Ceremony

    New Delhi, February 20, 2025 – Rekha Gupta was sworn in as Delhi’s Chief Minister at Ramlila Maidan, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior NDA leaders. A first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh, she was unanimously elected as the BJP legislative party leader, marking the party’s return to power in Delhi after 27 years. The event witnessed the attendance of nearly 50,000 people, including Union ministers and opposition leaders like former CM Arvind Kejriwal and outgoing CM Atishi Marlena.

    Gupta is the fourth woman to hold the Chief Minister’s post in Delhi. She began her political career with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and later served as the president of the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU). Over the years, she held key positions in the BJP, including general secretary of the Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha. Her appointment is seen as part of the BJP’s strategy to bring in fresh leadership while maintaining balanced representation in governance.
