    AP Govt Ensures Merit, Social Justice in VC Appointments: Chandrababu Naidu

    Amaravati, February 19, 2025: Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that Vice Chancellors were appointed purely on merit, signaling a transformative shift in the state’s higher education system. He criticized the previous government for political interference in appointments and stressed the need for qualified leaders to drive academic excellence.

    Naidu highlighted the government’s focus on social justice, celebrating the appointment of Professor Prasanna Sri as the state’s first ST woman Vice Chancellor. He congratulated the newly appointed VCs, expressing confidence in their role in advancing education. The first phase of selections filled nine VC positions through a rigorous process, shortlisting 512 candidates from 2,000 applications.
