Prayagraj, February 17, 2025 — The Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj has drawn an unprecedented 520 million pilgrims, with devotees taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam for spiritual purification. The grand gathering, which began on January 13, 2025, continues to attract millions for prayers and religious rituals.
To manage the massive turnout, the Uttar Pradesh government has invested ₹6,500 crore in infrastructure, security, and crowd control. Despite these efforts, a tragic stampede on January 29 resulted in several casualties. Authorities remain focused on safety as the festival concludes on February 26, 2025.
