    SIT Investigates Liquor Irregularities Worth Rs. 90,000 Crore in Andhra Pradesh

    Amaravati, February 13 – A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the liquor scam in Andhra Pradesh, based on reports from the CID and Vigilance Department. The SIT will probe irregularities in liquor sales and production between October 2019 and March 2024, with progress reports to be submitted to the government every 15 days.

    The investigation will also focus on the case filed by the CID in September 2024, concerning the AP Beverages Corporation, and the charges against former MD V. Vasudev Reddy and others. Allegations of financial transactions worth Rs. 90,000 crore during Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s tenure have emerged, with an estimated Rs. 18,000 crore in irregularities over five years. The SIT will also examine discrepancies in tenders for hologram stickers for liquor bottles under sections 420, 409, and 120B of the IPC.
