Palghar, February 6, 2025 – Nine individuals were arrested after a man, Ramesh Vartha, was fatally shot in Palghar, Maharashtra, on January 29. The hunters mistakenly identified Vartha as a wild boar in the Borsheti forest, leading to his death. The group tried to cover up the incident, sparking an investigation once the body was discovered.
The accused, including shooter Sagar Naresh Hadal, face charges of culpable homicide. Police are continuing their investigation and have dismissed rumors about additional victims.
