Amaravati, February 6, 2025: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has instructed Energy Department officials to focus on reducing electricity purchase costs by utilizing technology for accurate demand forecasts, particularly in the summer. He emphasized using artificial intelligence (AI) based on weather reports and suggested integrating soil moisture and groundwater data to improve electricity estimates for agriculture.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the need to reduce electricity losses and interruptions. He recommended assigning regional responsibilities to staff, addressing frequent outages, and conducting performance surveys. Additionally, Chandrababu proposed a Genco-Coal India partnership to set up a thermal plant in Talcher, Odisha, and emphasized the importance of establishing thermal plants near coal mines to reduce transportation costs. He also encouraged exploring solar power projects and prioritizing battery storage solutions.
