Andhra Pradesh Unveils Self-Certification Scheme for Faster Building Permits

Amaravati, February 5: Andhra Pradesh has introduced a self-certification scheme for building permits, allowing applicants to upload documents online and receive permits within hours, cutting out bureaucratic delays. The system applies to buildings up to four stories (18 meters) and enables property owners to obtain occupancy certificates after construction.

The new process eliminates the post-verification stage, addressing complaints of harassment. Permits may be revoked for violations, and responsible technical personnel will face penalties. This scheme, set to begin on February 15, is expected to streamline approvals for over 30,000 buildings annually.
