Amaravati, January 31, 2025: In his retirement farewell parade, DGP Dwaraka Tirumala Rao emotionally reflected on his decades of service, thanking Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for the opportunity to lead. He noted the shift to technical policing, focusing on cybercrime, drug trafficking, and crimes against women and children, and praised the Andhra Pradesh police for their courage during disasters.
New DGP Harish Kumar Gupta commended Rao’s reforms and emphasized continuing initiatives like friendly policing and the use of technology, including the Astra app for traffic control. Gupta pledged to focus on cybercrime and increase surveillance on rowdy and suspect elements, while thanking CM Naidu for entrusting him with the role. He also warned of actions against offensive social media posts.
