Amaravati, January 30, 2025: The Andhra Pradesh government is reviving its FiberNet project to provide affordable internet, cable TV, and phone services to every household. With a goal of reaching one crore households, the government plans to reintroduce the ₹149 basic plan by April. Initially launched in 2017, the project bundled services into a single connection, which attracted widespread attention.
During the previous government’s tenure, the project faced challenges, with connections dropping from 17 lakh to just 5 lakh due to financial mismanagement. Now, with former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu at the helm, the government aims to restore FiberNet’s success. Plans are underway to expand the service, reduce plan prices, and enhance technology and recruitment processes.
