New Delhi, January 25, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized Indonesia’s crucial role as an “important partner” for India in the ASEAN region and the Indo-Pacific. Speaking during a virtual meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Modi highlighted the growing strategic and economic ties between the two countries. He noted that Indonesia’s position as a key player in the ASEAN and Indo-Pacific regions makes it a valuable ally for India, especially in addressing regional security concerns and promoting trade and investment.
Modi also stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in areas such as defense, technology, and energy, aiming to enhance the India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Both leaders expressed their commitment to expanding collaboration within multilateral frameworks like the United Nations and the G20. The conversation underscored the shared interests of the two countries in maintaining peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
