Corruption in Internship Selections Exposed: Investigation Launched in Andhra Pradesh

Amaravati, January 25, 2025: Irregularities have been reported in selecting companies for internships in Andhra Pradesh’s degree and engineering courses. Allegations suggest that some officials turned the free internship program into a business by charging companies ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh for approval.

In one case, a company allegedly paid ₹5 lakh for approval, prompting a complaint to the Higher Education Council. After an investigation, the allegations were confirmed, leading to the dismissal of an attendant and a private firm employee. Ongoing investigations aim to identify other officials involved. This issue emerged following the previous government’s decision to make internships mandatory for students, which some companies have exploited.
