    Assam Reports First HMPV Case of the Season in 10-Month-Old Infant in Dibrugarh

    Dibrugarh, January 11, 2025: A 10-month-old infant in Dibrugarh, Assam, has been diagnosed with Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), marking the first case of the season in the state. The child, who exhibited cold-related symptoms, is currently receiving treatment at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) and is reported to be in stable condition.

    HMPV is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild symptoms and is typically detected during annual outbreaks. Dr. Dhrubajyoti Bhuyan, Superintendent of AMCH, confirmed the diagnosis through routine testing and reassured the public, stating there is no cause for concern regarding the infection.
