However, the court refused to issue any directions, stating that it was not within its jurisdiction to compel the central government to formulate or implement a rehabilitation package. The ruling has sparked a debate about the welfare of migrants from Pakistan and their integration into Indian society, especially in terms of legal recognition and access to social services.
